SCC Cycling Advocacy
The Salida Cycling Club gets involved in advocacy activities that help to inform and educate citizens about the value of cycling and make our communities safer for those who ride bikes. Salida is currently a bronze level “Bicycle friendly Community” – an award given by the League of American bicyclists. SCC is pursuing strategies to make Salida an even better place to ride a bicycle.
Previous efforts include:
- Providing lights to kids so they can ride safely at night and on the trails
- Working with Chaffee County mentors to ensure that all young people in our community have the opportunity to enjoy riding a bicycle
- Adopt-a-Highway project and highway cleanups
- Trail building with the Salida Mountain Trails program
