About the Salida Cycling Club

Salida Cycling Club (SCC), formerly South Central Racing (SCR), was started in 2004. Our mission is to support all aspects of cycling in Central Colorado by bringing together a community of riders, racers and kids on bikes. This means riding together, encouraging safe cycling, supporting local racers, promoting events and having fun. SCC Membership is open to everyone.

We believe in giving back to the community, which is why we have built a close tie with the Chaffee County Mentors. The mentor program provides one-to-one friendships to children in need of positive role models. Local youth ages 7 to 15 years facing challenges academically, economically and socially are matched with responsible adult volunteers. SCC provides bikes and helmets for these kids. Other community projects include an “adopt a highway project” and trail building with the Salida Mountain Trails program.

Club History

In 2004, racers in Chaffee County founded South Central Racing (SCR) with a goal to promote cycling in central Colorado. The Amicas Restaurant and Brewery was the first sponsor to sign on and a club was born. The goal was to create a cycling club and race team focused on bringing a community of cyclists together in Chaffee County. Now with over 120 members, this dream has become a reality.

Our title sponsor, The Amicas Restaurant and Brewery has become a destination for road cyclists and mountain bikers alike. You can’t beat a ride on the Continental Divide trail followed by a wood oven pizza and a beer. Visit them at 127 F Street

20 different local businesses pledge their support to SCC each year. So please return the support by giving them your business. A special thank you to the SCC club sponsors!
